The painter’s helper for your front door

Door painted?
Let it dry safely!

With the Drylock your front door stays open just enough for the paint to dry… and it’s safely locked. No paint sticking to the frame, no door left open unattended.

The Drylock: a strip with two slots and a bottle opener in the middle

Every painter knows the dilemma

Paint on the outside of a front door can take up to 24 hours to dry. What do you do? Until now you only got two options.

Option 1: DOOR CLOSED

The paint sticks

Wet paint sticks to the frame, and the other way round. Your freshly painted door ends up full of marks.

Option 2: DOOR OPEN

Door (and house) open

A front door open all evening and sometimes during the night: unsafe, cold, visiting cats. So someone has to watch the door.

THE SOLUTION: the Drylock

Ajar + locked

The door doesn’t touch the frame and can only be opened with the key. So the paint dries without a worry.

In 3 steps towards a perfectly painted door

  1. Fit the Drylock

Place the Drylock on the frame, level with the lock. It takes over the role of the strike plate, just a little further out.

  2. Lock the door

Turn the bolt into the first slot. The door is now ajar and secured: it can only be opened with the key.

  3. Paint dry? Drylock off in 1 second!

Paint dry? Unlock the door and take off the Drylock in one simple movement.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Drylock fit my front door?

The Drylock fits 95% of doors, including front doors. It is suitable for any front door with a recessed strike plate—typically a recess cut into the wooden door frame and covered with a metal plate or a metal strike box.

Please note: the Drylock is not compatible with electrically released locks.* These locks have a latch bolt only, with no deadbolt.

*Sometimes used on communal entrance doors serving several homes, allowing residents to unlock the entrance door remotely from inside their home.

Is my house really safe with the door ajar?

Yes. The door is locked in the first slot of the Drylock. Without the key it won’t open any further.

Will it damage my frame or the paint?

Nope, the Drylock clamps against the lock plate in the door.

N.B. On very rare occasions, that area might need a quick touch-up of paint after the 'Droogslot' (temporary lock insert) has been removed; however, since the strike plate does not come into contact with the door frame, the process remains completely 'blemish-free'.

Does the bottle opener really work?

It sure does. The middle slot is a fully working bottle opener. Cheers!

Can I get the Drylock with my own logo, as a corporate gift?

Yes, you can. Email droogslot@droogslot.nl for the options, minimum order and price.
